SUSTAINABLE INFRASTRUCTURE FEASIBILITY ASSESSMENT
Working as part of a high-profile EBRD infrastructure initiative, Environment Group partnered with the AtkinsRéalis team and HCL Consultants to carry out rigorous environmental and social assessments for the State Tax Service’s Yerevan and Syunik customs and logistics centers. The core objective of this assignment was to thoroughly evaluate the sustainability, climate resilience, and social impacts of modernizing these critical facilities, ensuring the feasibility of the proposed infrastructure upgrades.
To guarantee the sustainable execution of this modernization effort, our team was tasked with identifying all existing and project-related environmental and social impacts and risks. We conducted detailed evaluations to describe and characterize a relevant baseline, ensuring it was strictly commensurate with the risks posed by both current site operations and the planned project activities. This careful baseline analysis provided the foundation for understanding the full scope of the infrastructure’s footprint.
Drawing from this technical analysis, Environment Group developed a comprehensive Environmental and Social Audit and Assessment report. We subsequently drafted a tailored Environmental and Social Action Plan (ESAP) to guide the project’s execution. Furthermore, our experts meticulously evaluated the need for any additional, specialized studies – such as targeted biodiversity tracking, resettlement frameworks, or retrenchment assessments – to ensure that every relevant socio-environmental aspect was fully addressed. Finally, we provided essential technical inputs for the project’s Non-Technical Summary (NTS) as requested by AtkinsRéalis, ensuring clear and accurate communication of the project’s environmental and social dimensions.
