Assessment of the Potential for Application of Incentive Mechanisms for Double Secondary Water Use in Armenia:

Environment Group studied and identified the economic privileges/ incentives of double (secondary) water use by water users, possibilities of introduction, and application of such incentives in Armenia, and met the objective of the RA government in establishing justified regulations for water reuse under Article 25.1 of the RA water code. The analysis was used to encourage the reuse of wastewater and drainwater, bridging national policy and real-life application.

What we delivered:

• Environment Group identified and presented a set of financial incentives such as potential environmental tax reduction and implementation of secondary water systems, to incentivise water reuse.

• Drafted a comprehensive set of regulations and definitions, clarifying the legal rights of secondary water users.

• Conducted technical research and identified potential promising sectors for water reuse.

• Provided the Armenian government with a roadmap to integrate secondary water use into national climate change policies.
