Environment Group provided high-level strategic advisory support to the Government of the Republic of Armenia in its capacity as the host country for the upcoming UN Biodiversity Conference (COP17) scheduled for October 2026. The project focused on shaping national positions, structuring the comprehensive COP17 work program, and driving multi-partner coordination. By delivering continuous expert input and facilitating consensus-building, Environment Group ensured the government was strategically, operationally, and diplomatically equipped to lead a successful international environmental summit.

To support the Government of the Republic of Armenia in preparing for its monumental role as the host of the UN Biodiversity Conference (COP17) in October 2026, Environment Group delivered a robust suite of strategic and advisory services. Commissioned by the World Bank, our experts provided continuous, high-level input to shape the overarching COP17 work program, translating complex global biodiversity targets into clearly defined national priorities and actionable agendas.
A core component of the assignment involved the rigorous preparation of substantive content and national position papers. Environment Group authored strategic advisory notes and provided direct inputs for critical communication materials, ensuring that Armenia’s environmental policy stances were compellingly articulated and fully aligned with international biodiversity frameworks. To guarantee broad-based alignment ahead of the summit, the team facilitated extensive stakeholder coordination and consensus-building efforts among various domestic and international partners.
Furthermore, Environment Group actively supported the strategic curation of event participation, facilitating the identification and engagement of leading scientific experts and high-profile invitees to elevate the conference’s technical rigor and diplomatic impact. Through these comprehensive preparatory efforts, culminating in a detailed Stakeholder Coordination and Consensus-Building Summary, the project provided the Armenian government with the essential foundation required to successfully host and navigate a major United Nations convention.
